There are 6V and 12V motorcycle batteries, but 6V motorcycle batteries are old models of motorcycles in the past and have been eliminated. Most motorcycle batteries are now 12 volt.
After the motorcycle battery is not used for a long time, it will slowly lose its power. This is because the battery has a power loss, which leads to the decline of its energy storage capacity. In fact, it is difficult to repair, but there are two simple methods. The driver can try to repair the battery. The specific methods are:
1. Use the charger with repair function to charge. Some batteries produce lead sulfate on the electrode plate due to the gradual reduction of battery terminal voltage. If excessive current is used for charging, lead sulfate will not be easily reduced to lead and lead dioxide, which will lead to the inability to recover the battery capacity and reduce the service life of the battery. If the charger with repair function is used for charging, the battery can be repaired to a certain extent.
2. Add electrolyte supplement to the battery. The electrolyte in the battery is a kind of electric storage liquid, which directly affects the electric storage performance of the battery. If the battery has not been used for a long time, resulting in the reduction of electrolyte, the storage capacity of the battery can be repaired by adding supplemental solution to achieve the purpose of repair. However, attention should be paid to the amount added to prevent overflow.
3. The motorcycle battery is seriously short of power and needs to be charged continuously with low current for more than 24 hours. The charging time of motorcycle battery is generally not less than 8 hours and not more than 12 hours. However, if the motorcycle is parked for a long time and the battery is seriously out of power, then a small current charger is required to charge the battery to activate the battery. If the motorcycle is not used for a long time, it is recommended that the driver should start the motorcycle every week even if he does not ride it, otherwise the battery will slowly lose its power storage capacity.
4. If the battery loses power, it is better to replace it with a new one. Because the battery itself is a component that needs to be replaced regularly. Under normal conditions, the battery can be used for 3-4 years. After this time, various problems may arise. In addition, there may be other problems after such a long time. It is better to replace it directly.
